The Children's Playgroup is an informal gathering of parents and
children at a local park. At last notice the designate
park was Everett Alvarez Jr. Park,
2280 Rosita Avenue, Santa Clara (corner of Rosita Av
and Los Padres Blvd, between Pruneridge Av and
Saratoga Av. (map)
If
Tuesday mornings are greeted with bad weather, they meet at the
children's play area inside Westfield Valley Fair. The play area is
located on the first floor between Macy's Woman & The California
Pizza Kitchen.
Contact Elizabeth Leonard at 615-0985
that morning for more information.
Begun over 30 years ago, this
Bay Area mother/child club hosts weekly playdate get-togethers at
parks, family-oriented attractions, and member homes. A monthly parent-education/business
meeting, family-centered events, and mom's nights outs are also part
of the package. A great way for you and your child too meet new
friends and fill up lonely mornings or afternoons.
A special feature of this group
is that chapters are organized by the birth-year of the child and the
area you live in. So your child is bound to meet children his own age
who live near by. (But siblings are welcome to attend!)
For more information about a
chapter in your area call:

Milpitas Moms
& Tots aims to
provide opportunities for mothers and their children (newborn through
age 5) to make friends by participating in weekly playgroups and
activities. Playgroups are potluck, with the hostess providing a main
dish and drinks. Participants are asked to bring a healthy side-dish
to share. Other club activities include trips to local museums and
parks, family picnics, monthly "mom's night out," and
holiday parties. In addition, the club runs a babysitting co-op.
Membership is just $30/year and
all members receive a monthly newsletter, which includes updates
about the club, insights on parenting, recipes, craft ideas, and a
schedule of playgroups and activities.
