 Bug World!

Hi! My name is Gabbi !

Welcome To My  Bug World!

My Bug Facts:

If you don't like having caterpillars in your garden, that's too bad. Because, when caterpillars turn into butterflys, they can help you a lot.

Butterflys pollinate your flowers. So don't hurt any caterpillars -- leave them alone on a leaf! And that's all!

Mommy says, that pollination means: taking pollen from one flower to another, so that the flower can make babies -- or the seeds that can become baby plants. (Some of these seeds will be inside fruits!)

The Monarch butterfly could become extinct if there aren't anymore milkweed plants. This is because the Monarch lays its eggs on the milkweed plant. When the baby caterpillars hatch out of the eggs, they eat the milkweed. The milkweed plant has stuff in it that makes the caterpillars taste really bad to the birds who would like to eat them. When the caterpillars turn into butterflys, they still taste bad! Once a bird has tried to eat a Monarch, it knows to leave them alone!

Bees make honey for themselves and their babies and their queen. Beekeepers keep bees and let the bees make the honey. The extra honey they put in jars for us. Bees can make dances to show other bees where the flowers are before it's winter.

Let me tell you a thing about lady bugs:

Lady bugs have four wings. The first set of wings are protection wings. They protect the delicate wings. Lady bugs eat aphids. Lady bugs are good bugs for your garden, because aphids could eat up your plants. And that's all!

Crickets:

Some people in China believe crickets bring good luck. They also make nice noise. When you are walking and you can hear a cricket very well, they turn their sound like it was far away. They make their sound by rubbing their wings together. You can feed them to your pet lizard.

House Fly

House flies are a really big pest. Today my mom told my dad to buy a fly swatter!

A house fly's eyes are different from ours. A house fly's eyes see about a thousand of each thing they look at. I think it would be creepy if we saw a monster, but if a fly saw one, he would be scared out of his wits -- because it would look like hundreds of monsters!
