Writing Project

Fossil hunters discover the fossilized
imprint of your footprints. From the print they can tell how much you
weigh, how tall you are, whether you were a boy or a girl, and how fast
you were walking. Everything else, however, will be a mystery.
But there
is so much more to you!
If
you could leave a written record, what else would you want them to
know about you?
Write
it down! Then email it
to us here at Earth's Kids. Your response will be published right
here on the world wide web where it can be read by people from all
over the Earth!
Psst!
Here
are some suggestions for what to
write
about:
-
Name:
-
What
you're really good at:
-
Something
you've done to help others:
-
What you
dream of doing with your life:
-
Other: (ideas
you'd like to share with others, interesting experiences you've had,
what makes you really happy, etc....
We look
forward to hearing about the imprint you are making here on Earth....

Ever
since the discovery of the first dinosaur fossils, human beings have
wondered about these amazing creatures who inhabited Earth so long
ago. But because they are extinct,, there is much that will remain a
mystery-- what colors they were, how their skin felt, what they
looked like as they ran, even how they treated each other and their
babies. We can only wonder and imagine..
Now,
think about all the amazing creatures that inhabit the Earth right
now. In fact, think about your fellow humans-- even yourself! Like
the dinosaurs, the wondrous creatures that inhabit the Earth right
now can only thrive and survive as long as their habitat supports
them -- as long as there is enough food, clean air, water, shelter,
and etc. Right now, as humans, we have the choice to change how we
are living. Ask yourself what changes you could make to your
lifestyle that would benefit the Earth.
Could you
try a few of these?:
Harness
your inner creativity and wisdom.

Nurture
your spiritual life.

Money
talks -- don't buy from companies who hurt the Earth..

Recycle
your cans, bottles, plastic containers, and paper products.

Eat
less animal food (meat, milk,, etc.), & eat more plant food (soy
burgers, beans, etc.) More.

Limit
your family's use of toxic cleaning products, pesticides, & weed killer

Plant
a tree. Or a garden. Become a friend to nature.

Reduce
car use by walking, biking, rollerblading, and planning (try to do
many errands in one car trip, rather than taking separate trips for
each thing).

Save
electricity by turning off lights, TV., air conditioning when not needed.

Be
informed!

Already
do some of these? Great! Ready to
try a little bit more? Even better!
Can't do
it all? Join the club! Just try to
do what you can. When that becomes old hat, try to do just a little
bit more. It's better to change a little at a time, than to give up
and ignore the problem entirely. Because if we don't change how we
live, and how we treat the Earth, we -- and many other creatures on
the Earth -- just may go the way of the dinosaurs.
