Aloh
Mayla's Babies
Finding homes....
Here we tell the tale of where those first dear little buns ended up.
Some of you, who have also received such surprise blessings, may take
heart.
Where the
landed...
some left....
|
The smallest black bunny,
who we thought was too plain to get chosen, was adopted by a
wonderful family that wanted her to be a companion to their little
black lop-eared bunny.
Piglet, the pudgiest and
most dominant female, was adopted along with Rusty, by a family who
wanted to raise a herd of their own.
|

Piglet |
Rooh-Rooh (Piglet's twin)
and the orally curious
Nibbles
(Spot's twin) were adopted by my friends Kriss and Phillip. We have
visitation rights.
|

Rosie |
Rosie, one of the most
friendly and intelligent of the bunnies, was clever enough to find
her own home. She ran away and adopted a neighbor family. We were
quite worried about her, and were glad to find out where she'd ended
up. It turns out, she was pregnant when she left. Ooops. The
neighbors were very busy finding homes for the babies. We know how
that is... |
And some Stayed....
The medium-sized black bunny,
now called Velvet,
still lives with us. She is gentle and fairly timid. She has
escaped a number of times, sometimes staying away days at a time. For
this reason the other female bunnies reject her and chase her
("You smell like a stranger!") -- no doubt giving her more
reason to run away. She was just moved into a cage, after a savage
attack by Flopsy. The cage adjoins the cage occupied by Freckles
(Flopsy's brother). Freckles and Velvet are seriously in love and can
often be found kissing noses through the cage bars and making funny
little sounds to each other.
Night, the largest black
bunny, is still with us. He is the most aggressive of our male
bunnies and must be kept well away from all other males -- he has
drawn blood a few times.
Celeste -- she who ran
away and was chased by a neighbor cat (by which we learned that
scared bunnies squealed like pigs) and was found far away, hunkered
down in the grass by the duck pond -- is still with us as well. We
think she had babies recently (well, someone did!) but abandoned them.
And finally, there is Spot.
We were sure someone would adopt Spot. He is beautiful, gentle,
affectionate. But he is with us yet. He keeps himself busy by digging
all the food out of his dish. It is fairly annoying, as the food
mostly gets wasted.
Final Tally: 6 found
other homes, 3 stayed with us.
Finding homes....
Cinnabun's
Babies
As with Aloh
Mayla's babies, some left....
Domino was adopted by a
kindergarten teacher in Los Gatos, and is now the class bunny.
|
Rusty
went with Piglet,
to the new bunny farm. |
 |
Tiger was adopted by a
young woman who wanted a suitable pet to share with her boyfriend.
And a fourth little bunny
was adopted by a family from the countryside who had a large backyard
and plans to build a big bunny run.
And some Stayed....
Freckles still lives with
us. He is a sweetie! And he is madly in love with Velvet Bunny -- and
she with him. We plan to have him neutered so they can live in the
same pen together.
Flopsy stayed with us.
She is also known as "Hamster Bunny" because of her broad
face, which looks ...well... like a hamster's. She has now had her
own little babies -- Scamp and Olivia.
Final tally: 4 found
other homes, 2 stayed with us.

Please note that
this information is now part of our retrospective.
We don't still have the little guys mentioned above. (But
we still remember all the fun and love they shared with us!)
