A Look Back
How It Used To Be, And How It Is Now
Nowadays things are quite different than they used to be.
There are no dozen rabbits charging around the backyard intent on
accomplishing important rabbit business. No more nest boxes filled
with baby bunnies draw neighborhood kids to "please, please take a
peak". The bunny barn is now a storage shed. And the bunnies
we have now, live almost entirely indoors. Where did all they go?
Many of our bunnies moved on to other homes, but some passed away.
And of course, spaying and neutering brought reproduction under human
control.
Our bunny family now consists of just three little fellows --
all males. (This time for sure!) And although we miss the
hippity hop of tiny little buns, we have no plans of expanding back to
our former number. Fewer is better, when it comes to taking care
of them and spending time with them. And really, our lifestyles
just no longer give us the time to take care of more than our current
little crew.
But we like to look back and think about
our dear little friends, and what life was like when rabbits ran the
backyard (both literally and politically). And we know that
some of our longtime visitors enjoy seeing the pictures of Aloh Mayla,
Cinnabun, Cary Bunny, and all their crew.
Please note that we were only hobbyist
breeders (please no veterinary or show questions). And of course,
we never lived on an actual farm (despite the cute picture above).
